On a breezy summer day in early June, Daphne and Christian had joy and excitement visibly bursting from them as Daphne reached toward Christian to turn him around for their first look at Essex Lake House.
The pandemic had kept them separated for the last time. Christian, an American, and Daphne, a Canadian, had been kept apart by border closures for over a year. And in the emotional and heartfelt moments after they were able to see each other on their elopement day for the first time, we all realized they wouldn’t have to be apart again.
Daphne’s immediate family was waiting in the house to welcome Christian with open arms. A summer storm blew in off the lake, and in a last minute change of plans, the family gathered indoors and Christian and Daphne were married among family. They live streamed the event for those who couldn’t attend their intimate gathering, and they kicked off their shoes to dance barefoot in the wet grass after the rain to celebrate.
