I always advocate for being boldly, authentically yourself. You’ll see versions of that sentiment all over my website. And it’s because I whole heartedly believe it. So when Michelle and I met to discuss her wedding day last November, I was so pumped to photograph her wedding day the minute she mentioned that she bought a bright yellow wedding dress and wanted a colourful backyard wedding!
They wanted something colourful, low key, original, and handmade. And I think they not only checked all of those boxes, but completely exceeded any and all expectations for their wedding day! They hand mades all of the signage, the tablescapes, the ceremony chairs, even the silverware had their handles hand dipped to match their wedding colours. There set up a backyard dance floor and gorgeous sitting area, and even hand made all of their wedding favours. This colourful backyard wedding was truly bursting with personality and lovingly handmade touches.
Every single detail was hand made and hand selected by the couple, and their entire wedding day was about celebration and love. With both of their families gathered in Michelle’s parents backyard in Harrow, they married on the waterfront overlooking Lake Erie, and walked down the aisle for the first time as husband and wife to a cloud of colourful smoke bombs!
Even though this was one of the hottest weekends of the entire summer, nothing could dampen anyone’s spirits as they ate, danced, celebrated, and played lawn games well into the night. The moon rose full and blood red, there were fireworks going off in the distance, clogs and epic dance moves were on the dance floor, and at the end of the evening, they stood under the glow of sky lanterns.
